David M Borg is President of Borg & Borg Inc. an insurance and risk management agency which he started jointly with his father and now includes the third generation. The agency is located in Huntington, New York. David has been in the risk management industry since 1971. After receiving his insurance degree he has attained numerous insurance designations throughout the years including the prestigious CPCU designation through Hofstra University. He has served on numerous insurance company advisory boards as well as past Presidents of both the Suffolk Chapter of the Independent Agents Association and the LI chapter of Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriters. He and his staff provide Insurance and risk management services not only on a local level but also on a regional and national level. David has also been a member of a many civic associations and has been an active supporter of his community.
Born in Malta, then spent a few years in Brooklyn ...(everybody goes through Brooklyn)... David grew up on Long Island. He currently resides in Nassau County with his wife, Bernadette where they raised 5 children. He is an avid golfer, enjoys traveling and skiing as well as exploring life and all of its wonders.×
Alex Borg is a Huntington native who is continuing his family’s legacy in their local insurance agency. Alex is a graduate of Harborfields High School (2002) and the University of Vermont (2006). At UVM, Alex majored in history and education with a focus in American history and literature and special education. After teaching Global Studies and Political Science at South Burlington HS, VT in 2005 & 2006, he returned back to Long Island to work in the family insurance business.Alex is involved with several trade associations to educate and provide professional service to businesses in the construction, real estate, manufacturing, and retail industries. He performs speaking engagements about the respective exposures and coverages associated with each business.
Today Alex strives to support his community with his involvement in many local associations. He is the former chairman of the young professional committee at the Huntington Chamber of Commerce and currently serves on the board of directors. Alex is also an active member of the Townwide Fund of Huntington, a local charity supporting 20 health & human services agencies within Huntington. Alex is married and lives in Centerport. Both he and his wife are accomplished skiers, boaters, run in several charitable races, and are all-around athletes.×
David H. Borg has lived in Huntington all of his life and is an active member of the community. He currently is a member of the local rotary club and participates consistently is local charity events. He graduated from Harborfeilds High School in 2000 and attend SUNY Cortland. After college David obtained his property and casualty license while working in his family’s agency.
David is currently serving on the board of directors for the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of Suffolk County (IIABSC) and it the Yong Agent Chairman for the Insurance Agents and Brokers of New York (IIABNY). He regularly meets with elected officials in Albany and Washington DC to provide expert advice on insurance related matters.
You can see Dave running or biking throughout the Huntington area as he is an avid fitness enthusiast. He also loves to spend time hiking in the local trials or on the beautiful water we are so fortunate to have access to.×
Sean launched his career in the insurance business in 2004, securing his New York State Life andHealth Licenses. While graduating SUNY Binghamton for his Bachelors of Science in Economics with a specialization in Finance in 2006, he also earned his NY State Property and Casualty Insurance and Notary Public Licenses. Since then he has gone on to achieve his “Certified Insurance Counselor” and “Certified Risk Manager” Designations and is currently pursuing his CPCU Designation.
An active member in the Long Island Community, Sean is a trustee and treasurer for the Huntington Historical Society. He also sits on the board of directors for the Long Island Elite charity and networking group as well as the Long Island Coalition against Bullying. In 2012, Sean was honored as one of the Top 30 Young Professionals under 30 by the Huntington Chamber of Commerce. Sean is a graduate of Elwood- John H Glenn High School and an Eagle Scout. An avid football and hockey fan, he also enjoys tennis, golf, hiking, and spending time with his family and Bernese mountain dog, “Tonka.” Sean uses his ingenuity and diligence to better serve his client’s needs. As a trusted advisor, to a diverse client base, he is a valued member of both our sales and administration teams.×
Cecile Marie Scarsella (AKA “Ceal”) has enjoyed a successful career in the insurance industry. Ceal comes to our office from a major national insurance agency and brings her depth of knowledge and organizational abilities to our office. Ceal enjoys boating (she was her yacht club’s first female officer and first female Commodore), skiing and spending time with her family.×
Laurie has been in the insurance business since 2009. A graduate of New York State University College at New Paltz with a BA in 1986. She started her insurance career as an insurance telemarketer obtaining qualified leads for Producers. She received her NY State Insurance License in 2010 and transitioned into a Production role, maintaining accounts and selling new lines of business. Laurie has taken on a new role at Borg & Borg as a member of our marketing team. Laurie, uses her insurance know-how and market knowledge to secure the best quotes available for Borg and Borg clients. Laurie is a nutrition and fitness enthusiast. She also enjoys bicycling and spending time with her family×
Susan George joined Borg & Borg, Inc. in June 2014. She has over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry. She holds a NYS Property & Casualty Brokers License and is knowledgeable in both Personal & Commercial Lines insurance.×
Kathy Rowan has been working in the insurance industry for over 20 years and been with Borg & Borg since 2008. She works in the personal lines department helping customers with their questions and navigate their policies.×
Lorraine started working for Borg & Borg, Inc from its inception in 1976 in the Accounting Department. After working for 15 years, she took time off for childrearing, part time jobs and volunteering as Treasurer of the PTA. She rejoined Borg & Borg in 2012 as an administrative assistant supporting the Commercial Lines Department.×
Erika Lynch joined Borg & Borg, Inc. in June of 2014 as our Senior Executive Program Director. Erika’s insurance career began over 20 years ago, where she was responsible for developing unique loss control programs and products for the Risk Management market. Currently, Erika specializes in the development of new Insurance Programs and Carrier underwriting negotiations. Her expertise delivers an unparalleled approach in customizing programs across a broad range of insurable markets for all of Borg & Borg’s clients.×
Joann Conboy graduated from Adelphi University. She has worked in the insurance industry since 1989 and joined Borg & Borg in 1996. She starting working in the Health insurance field in 2008. Joann got her start as receptionist and was promoted to claims, certificates. She enjoys customer service, as it gives her the opportunity to help our clients. Joann’s hobbies include reading and cooking.×
Margaret Lyon joined Borg & Borg Inc. in January, 2015. She has 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. She graduated from St. John’s University in Sept. 1989 and has a Bachelor of Science degree in business management. Margaret is licensed in personal lines and works in the personal lines department assisting customers with their policies. She is also a Notary Public. Margaret speaks and writes fluent Italian. Her hobbies include gardening, cooking and baking. Margaret enjoys spending time with her family and traveling to the Caribbean.×
Samantha Tutoli is a Huntington native, graduating from Walt Whitman High School in 2006 and going on to graduate with a Bachelors from SUNY Oswego in 2010. She then went straight into the insurance industry and obtained her NY State Property & Casualty, Life, Accident, & Health licenses. Sam comes to Borg & Borg after several years at GEICO and State Farm. She joined Borg & Borg in January 2016 in the Personal Lines new business department. Sam is also a Notary Public. When not in the office, Sam enjoys baking & spending her time with family.×
Lisa joined us at Borg & Borg in August of 2016. She has been in the insurance industry for 25 years, holding her NY State License since 1998. With both commercial lines and personal lines experience, she is currently a valued member of our personal lines team, as our binding specialist. She has competed in equestrian jumping from childhood until into her 30’s, and now spends her free time with her husband, son Jack, and their dog Frankie. She enjoys the beach, skiing, cooking and creating detailed Halloween costumes.×
It is with sadness, but also fond memories, that we announce the passing of one of Borg & Borg Insurance’s founding fathers.
Edward Borg Sr. passed away Monday morning at the age of 88.
An active tennis player, published photographer, and golfer, Edward is survived by his wife, 5 children, 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
After a successful career in Malta, Edward got started in the insurance industry in 1955 as an underwriter. He quickly rose to a managerial position for Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company before leaving to start his own agency.
In 1971, Edward, his wife Sylvia, and his eldest son David started Borg & Borg Insurance out of their Kings Park Home. With various offices on Long Island and in Miami they quickly grew and in 1982 they consolidated into Huntington where the company has remained since.
Edward Retired in 1998 and moved to Florida and then Atlanta.×
